My 2015: weddings
2015 has been a pivotal year for me. For the first time, the portrait side of my work has become equally as important to me as the weddings, and the increased number of portrait shoots has meant that now I’m only able to take on a select few weddings each year. This, coupled with the fact that I had a baby (my beautiful second son Huey) towards the end of last year, means that 2015 has also been for me a time where I have consciously limited what work I take on so as to make sure that I carve out as much time for my own family as possible.
For the first time since I began my photography business 8 years ago, I’ve decided to separate my ‘end of year’ post into two individual ones : one wedding, one portrait – as I feel that each now has its own distinct identity and deserves and needs its own space. However, with respect to compiling an end of year wedding post, this has made it much more challenging! Whereas usually I would have a much larger number of weddings from which to select the images, as well as a few portrait shoots, this time I have no portrait shoots and only TEN weddings from which to create this post. I was actually quite nervous about putting this together and was really worried that I wouldn’t have as much content as previous years.
However, it’s been so heartening and life-affirming for me to see and realise, looking through these images, that all of this fun, love, laughter, excitement, humour, atmosphere, joy, beauty and soul has come from only ten weddings. Thank you to you all, every single one of my couples, you and your incredible celebrations were so amazing and so special to me. They truly proved to me that the old saying is so very true: that it’s quality over quantity that matters, every single time. Ten wonderful days with ten wonderful couples, with ten sets of wonderful family and friends. It’s a testament to them all that despite my initial worries, I had absolutely no trouble whatsoever finding material for this post. It was cutting it down to a manageable amount that was the problem!
So here they are… some of my favourite wedding images from 2015… It was a belter!
