A few weeks ago I got an email asking if I wanted to do a commercial product shoot for Ball and Byrne, a new online lifestyle boutique run by Michelle Ball and her husband Sean Byrne, selling unique, beautiful and distinctive items for homes and gardens. It is chock-full of really fantastic and original pieces, very lovingly sourced by a couple who have a real zeal for what they do. As Michelle says, “We are both passionate about our home and the things in it, we spend all our spare time searching and sourcing for that unique item, whether from shopping in London or from reclamation yards. We love to entertain and this is where Ball and Byrne was created, after many dinner parties with friends and family always asking where we got our candles, vases, tea lights etc we then made the decision to sell them on our own lifestyle shop online.”
This commission was completely up my street so I had absolutely no hesitation in saying yes. I love photographing details and have a really keen interest in interior design and decoration so the prospect of spending a day photographing item after item of gorgeous objects for the home was a complete no-brainer for me. The shoot took place in Michelle and Sean’s home, which was easily one of the most gorgeous houses I’ve visited – a complete aladdin’s cave of fantastic and unusual items and furniture. I love that customers can see how the items look in situ in a real, lived-in home and garden rather than a more sterile studio set. Michelle’s enthusiasm for her products was really apparent and she’s a really lovely lady to boot, so I had an absolute blast working with her. She also supplied me with gorgeous buttery crumpets and toast which is never a bad thing.
My finished products from this shoot are the vast majority of the images on the website, which you can see here, but I’ve posted a few of my favourites below.
