Lake Windermere wedding photography (Michelle + Michael)

Michelle and Michael were married on the shores of Lake Windermere in the beautiful Lake District. The Lake District holds a special place in my heart as my parents used to take me and my brother there all the time when we were kids and it’s one of my favourite places in the world. To be able to photograph a wedding here with two of the loveliest people I’ve had the pleasure of working with was a real treat. Both Michelle and Michael are so incredibly warm and friendly, and right from the start have never made me feel as though I was working for them, more like I was a friend they wanted along with them, and as any wedding photographer will agree, it’s such an absolute pleasure being able to take pictures for people like this.
Michelle’s outfit was just incredible. That dress!!! I loved everything about it. Teamed with an incredible pair of glittery Louboutins (and a super-cute pair of leopard print pumps for our little wander) she looked like a 50s movie star. I also absolutely loved the colour scheme she had chosen for the bridesmaids and the details – vivid splashes of turquoise, fuschia, royal blue and purple… and the bridesmaids’ shoes… well take a look for yourself and I dare you not to develop intense shoe envy. The table details were so gorgeous, and all put together by Michelle herself – cute little luggage labels with vibrant ribbons, sweet jars full of colourful sweets and that gorgeous cake with the bright ribbons round it.
The whole wedding was held at Storrs Hall – a beautiful hotel with a really unusual ceremony room – circular with little nooks and crannies downstairs and an incredible balcony upstairs from which guests could look down on the ceremony, topped with an intricate circular stained glass window. Really spectacular.
Doing the couple shots was a real treat – a beautiful walk around the Lake, stopping off on little shores, jetties and the fantastic Storrs Temple in the middle of the Lake. A photographer’s dream! Although I did nearly at one point end up in Lake Windermere… note to self: do not walk backwards down a jetty with no barriers whilst taking photographs.
A wonderful day I thoroughly enjoyed with two gorgeous people who it’s clear to see are completely crazy about each other. Here are some of my favourites…
