My 2017: weddings
This feels a very strange post to be writing, as this will be my last ever end-of-year round up for weddings. After nearly 10 years of shooting them, this year I made the big decision to stop taking wedding bookings in order to focus on family photography and to reclaim my weekends after a number of years having very few. As I’ve been winding things down, I only shot 13 this year, and I have only 4 more still to shoot in 2018, which feels unbelievably weird.
It’s actually been quite bittersweet for me putting this together and now that I’m faced with knowing that this is the last time I’ll ever do this, I feel really nostalgic and emotional. There really is nothing like shooting weddings – the melting pot of friendship, love, chaos, tradition, adventure, laughter, emotion, energy… they are extraordinary both in themselves and to photograph, and telling the story of a wedding day is something I’m going to miss terribly.
As always, thank you so much to the wonderful people who invited me to share their wedding days this year. I’ve been completely blessed in that, as always, they have all been ridiculously lovely. People often ask me whether I have any nightmare clients and the honest truth is that I don’t. They are always insanely ace, and this year was no exception. I feel extremely lucky.
