Sarah and Pete were mid-move when this shoot took place, and these photos were actually taken in a temporary rental property that they were staying in until they could move into their new home. I loved that this didn’t faze them at all and that they prioritised memories over the house or location being perfect – after all, the rental house is just as much a part of their family memories as any other home.
They are such a lovely family, so warm, caring and genuine. It was so important to Sarah and Pete to capture the whole family together because, “We don’t have any good ones as a whole family together. We are moving and life is constantly changing, and though we have a camera, we are not taking as many photos as we did with Eva as a baby, due to the lack of time. Baby days are whizzing by already!” I absolutely love that in the chaos of these days, these photos have given them a snapshot of the magic in their family at this time that they will always have to look back on.
And what is that magic? In Sarah’s words, “Eva’s singing, dancing,Β the way she kisses her brother with so much genuine love. And her pure delight as her daddy spins her round or catches her as she jumps off the staircase banisters… Rufus’s curiosity over his feet, his sloppy kisses on my chin or nose, his hilarious faces and that pure delight that spreads over his face when he sees you smiling at him after he wakes up, his little rolls of chub on his leg (which are already fast disappearing as he is starting to roll, sob), me breastfeeding because I treasure those moments so much.”
I hope I captured all of this and more for them – and we even managed to shoehorn in some messy baking, which is always a winner! And oh my word, THAT LITTLE FACE AND ALL THOSE GORGEOUS CURLS!
