THE ROOST // Family photography workshop // new date!

January 12, 2017

“Probably the best workshop I’ve attended, and that’s no exaggeration…” ROBBIE

Last year, in response to demand from fellow photographers, I set up The Roost, a workshop for both aspiring and established photographers wanting to pursue meaningful and creative documentary family photography. I wanted to offer practical support and guidance in shooting this incredibly rewarding and enjoyable type of photography, enabling others to gain confidence working with children and families, whilst hopefully building successful and manageable businesses in the process.

Photographing families is absolutely wonderful… it’s such a privilege and joy to be allowed into the life of a family, even just for a couple of hours, and to document the love and connections between them… and the novelty never wears off for me seeing how much joy it brings them to see themselves happy together in the images you give them. This insanely enjoyable and rewarding type of photography can also fit beautifully around your own life… especially important once we become parents ourselves and crave more time at home with our own children, but still so important for photographers without kids who also want to carve out more time with their own friends and family and achieve a healthier work/life balance.

The world of family photography has long been dominated by cheesy images, studio backgrounds and pushy sales consultations where families end up spending a small fortune on elaborate products and images that often don’t look hugely different to other people’s. Over the years, I’ve found that it’s completely possible to strip it all back, keep it simple and build a profitable, ethical family photography business that puts families under not one ounce of pressure to purchase anything they don’t want to, whilst giving them beautiful, creative, unique bespoke photography and a fantastic, memorable experience with their loved ones at the same time. It’s this knowledge and experience that I’d love to pass on to other photographers so that they can feel confident doing this too.

I’ve opened up a NEW DATE in MANCHESTER on TUESDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 2017, so if you think you might like to come along, please get in touch on anna@annahardy.co.uk and I’ll send you a brochure!

Last year I ran three Roosts, in Manchester, London and Birmingham, and was blown away by how much I loved doing them and how much the amazing people who came along said they enjoyed them. So, enough from me, I’ll hand over to them…!

“Probably the best workshop I’ve attended, and that’s no exaggeration…” ROBBIE

“Such an inspiring and *useful* day – I’ve never come away from a workshop armed with such extensive and practical information. Amazing stuff and wish I could do it all again.” SALLY

“A brilliant workshop – it was everything I hoped it would be and more. Feeling hugely inspired but also armed with lots of new tools to make the most of my family shoots. Can’t wait to get started!” HANNAH

“Listening to you and your approach shows that it is really doable to get that work life balance. I have been on a few courses over the past years and walked away and thought yeh, that was OK. But I sincerely mean this, that I came away and felt that I had learnt a lot, felt reassured that yes I am on the right path and felt so inspired. I called my husband walking back to the car and couldn’t shut up talking about the day! So a big, fat, massive thank you!” CHARLOTTE

“Thank you so much Anna for such an amazing and informative day! My head is spinning from an overload of information (in a good way!) and in some respects I feel like a weight has been lifted and I now feel like I have some direction :)” LOWRI

“Fantastic workshop and Anna you answered all my questions without me even having to ask.” JESS

I really hope you’d like to come along and can’t wait to hear from you!

Anna 🙂

This course sounds perfect, just what I need. Not that I’ll be able to join you as I have my little boy to look after. Maybe next time 🙂

Hi Phil! Yes definitely! There will be at least one in-person workshop as well as an online version of the course launching in a few months’ time 🙂 I’ll pop your name down on the list to hear about any new workshops if you like?
