Theo, Isaac + Zea {World Kindness Day: nominations for a ‘Give Back’ family shoot}

Like many other people, I try to give back wherever possible. I often donate photography and money to charities but I especially enjoy being able to use my own work to give directly to specific families. Few things are as precious or joyous as seeing our family’s love for one another visible, tangible and immortalised in a photograph.

So last year I started donating free ‘Give Back’ family shoots to families who’ve been through a tough time, or who, for whatever reason, really deserve some kindness coming their way. When I’ve called out for nominations I’ve been overwhelmed by the responses from so many kind folk looking out for those close to them. Thank you SO much to everyone who’s taken the time to get in touch.

My first ‘Give Back’ shoot was for Florence, Riccardo and Jenny and my most recent one shown here (photographs below) was for Theo, Isaac and Zea. This lovely family was nominated by a friend who quite rightly felt that after a horrifically difficult couple of years they really deserved something positive. Shortly after he was born, 2 year old Theo was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition. Since his birth he’s had numerous operations on his heart, will continue to have them, and has to have a feeding tube administered nightly. He has been in and out of hospital far more times in his first 2 years than most people are in a whole lifetime, often with invasive and dangerous operations, yet this beautiful little lad is the sunniest, sweetest, happiest little soul you could ever hope to meet.

Having the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with this wonderful family, Theo, his mother Zea and his brother Isaac, it’s immediately obvious why Theo is as happy as he is. The love and affection these guys have for each other absolutely pours out of them. All three of them are constantly laughing, smiling, hugging, kissing and playing. They all absolutely adore each other and you see this every few seconds – it’s a complete joy to be around and so moving. The boys are a total credit to Zea – gentle, kind, inquisitive, funny, polite and loving.

As a mother myself I can’t even begin to imagine how unbearable the worry must be for Zea and I’m completely in awe of her strength and positivity. I really hope it brings her some comfort to see with her own eyes in these pictures what a happy life her boys have, how loved they both feel and how much they love her in return.

Theo is having his next operation tomorrow, so please join me in sending huge amounts of love and well wishes to Theo, Isaac and Zea. With today being World Kindness Day, I thought today was the perfect day to share these photographs and ask for your kind support by doing one, two or all three of the following:

1) Donate whatever you can spare to Alderhey Children’s Charity or Healing Little Hearts (two wonderful charities who have helped Theo and his family enormously), and/or

2) Nominate a family for my next donation of a free family shoot. All you need to do is to email me with the following information
– Names and ages of all members of family
– Geographical location (location is limited to within 20 miles of Manchester but families living outside this area are welcome to travel to the Manchester area for the shoot)
– Why you think they should have a free family shoot

3) Share this post to spread some more kindness!

I’ll collate all the nominations, then on Monday 3rd December 2018 I’ll have one of my glamorous assistants (i.e one of the kids!) randomly draw one from a hat. The winner will receive a free one hour family shoot and all high resolution digital images from the shoot.

Thank you again to Theo, Isaac and Zea for letting me share these happy times with them.

Anna 🙂
